Within the context of the implementation of the EU NIS Directive and the relevant national harmonised legislation, Operators of Essential Services (OES) and Critical Information Infrastructures (CIIs) are obliged to take appropriate technical and organisational measures for the optimum resilience of their systems and to protect the confidentiality, integrity, availability and authenticity of the services that they offer.

As part of the implementation of Commission Recommendation (EU) 2017/1584 of 13 September 2017 on coordinated response to large-scale cybersecurity incidents and crises, the DSA actively participates in the relevant working groups for its implementation.  The DSA has appointed representative to the newly established CyCLONe – Cyber Crisis Liaison Officers Network, with the aim of effective and timely response to emergency situations in the event of large-scale cross-border cyber incidents and crises at the national or European level.

The DSA successfully organised a training programme for cybersecurity certification on 4/12/20, with the participation of a number of staff members from the DSA, as well as from other partners in the public and private sector.  This training forms part of the implementation of a co-funded project which is being coordinated by the DSA: B4C – Building up the Cybersecurity Certification Capabilities of Cyprus

The DSA, as part of its activities to implement the NIS (Network and Information Security) Directive in the Republic of Cyprus, has begun the process of reviewing the list of critical information infrastructures in Cyprus.

The DSA, as part of its activities for the continual improvement of cybersecurity levels in the Republic of Cyprus, and its ongoing contributions to relevant European working groups, is actively participating in the review process for the EU Directive on the Security of Network and Information Systems.  This Directive, based on which the DSA and National CSIRT-CY were created, includes the main provisions for measures for a high common level of security of network and information systems across the Union (including Cyprus).

Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission*, each February to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology, especially among children and young people. Celebrated on the second day of the second week of the second month, each year on Safer Internet Day millions of people unite to inspire positive changes online, to raise awareness of online safety issues, and participate in events and activities right across the globe.
