The DSA, as part of its activities for the continual improvement of cybersecurity levels in the Republic of Cyprus, and its ongoing contributions to relevant European working groups, is actively participating in the review process for the EU Directive on the Security of Network and Information Systems.  This Directive, based on which the DSA and National CSIRT-CY were created, includes the main provisions for measures for a high common level of security of network and information systems across the Union (including Cyprus).

The DSA has submitted structured feedback on the review of the Directive and for the future of cybersecurity in Europe, and participated in a joint meeting on 29/10/20 with the NIS Cooperation Group with the other Member States, the European Commission and ENISA.  The technical experts of the DSA contributed to the relevant discussions, contributing to the future improvement of the European legislative framework.  The upcoming changes to the legislation are expected to significantly improve the approach of the Member States regarding the cybersecurity of critical infrastructures in each country, and by extension the levels of cybersecurity for citizens and businesses in Cyprus and the European Union.
