The Digital Security Authority (together with OCECPR and the Department of Electronic Communications) is participating in the World Telecommunications Development Confernce (WTDC) of the International Telecommunication Union, representing the Republic of Cyprus in Kigali, Republic of Rwanda, 6-16 June 2022.

The WTDC conference takes place every 4 years, setting the direction of the International Telecommunication Union activities for the next four years, with a special emphasis on the development of telecommunications services worldwide and covering telecommunications development topics, projects and programmes. The conference sets out the relevant strategies and goals for the global development of telecommunications, providing direction for the activities of the International Telecommunication Union and its Member States.

During the conference, the DSA is focusing on a number of cybersecurity issues, as it is now widely understood telecommunications development cannot proceed in the best way possible without taking into account cybersecurity concerns from the outset - both in terms of the technologies themselves but also the maturity levels of all types of users. The DSA is actively involved in these discussions and in the development of the direction of the International Telecommunication Union development activities for the next 4 years, where it will upgrade its own capabilities in relevant cybersecurity issues, will continue to upgrade security levels for all users in Cyprus, and will contribute significantly to the development of cybersecurity in other countries through the exchange of best practices and relevant know-how that it is continuously building.
